The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region called on the inhabitants of Habereda Administrative area, Megolo sub-zone, to reinforce the practice of environmental hygiene so as to safeguard community health through the eradication of diseases resulting from lack of hygiene. The branch office further called on the inhabitants to introduce long-scale use of latrines. Megolo, 24 April, 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region called on the inhabitants of Habereda Administrative area, Megolo sub-zone, to reinforce the practice of environmental hygiene so as to safeguard community health through the eradication of diseases resulting from lack of hygiene. The branch office further called on the inhabitants to introduce long-scale use of latrines.
Mr. Teklom Yeibio, head of environmental health department in the branch office, indicated that the Ministry has been engaged in introducing latrines in remote areas, and that community-based environmental hygiene is the reliable means of translating the plan into action.
Mr. Abdullahi Al-Amin, director general of social service department in Gash-Barka regional administration, stressed that behavioral change is a pre-requisite to ensuring environmental hygiene through community participation.
