Gash-Barka Assembly holds 11th regular meeting

The Assembly of Gash-Barka region held its 11th regular meeting on 23 April in Barentu. Mr. Osman Mohammed Ali, Chairman of the regional Assembly, in a speech he delivered at the meeting, indicated that endeavors exerted in the socio-economic, infrastructural and political domains so as to ensure social justice have registered significant outcome in improving the livelihood of citizens.

Barentu, 26 April, 2012 – The Assembly of Gash-Barka region held its 11th regular meeting on 23 April in Barentu.

Mr. Osman Mohammed Ali, Chairman of the regional Assembly, in a speech he delivered at the meeting, indicated that endeavors exerted in the socio-economic, infrastructural and political domains so as to ensure social justice have registered significant outcome in improving the livelihood of citizens. He also called for increased endeavors to introduce and distribute select crops, as well as efficiency in milk production and judicious utilization of the existing dams and micro-dams.

The regional Assembly conducted extensive discussion on the reports presented and put forth views besides adopting decisions as regards improving the impact of social service facilities through promoting community-based style of living, community role in raising women’s participation in education and reinforcement of soil and water conservation.

Mr. Mohammed Hamd, Administrator of Gash-Barka region, lauded the active involvement of Assembly members in the national development drive and attested that the regional Assembly would work diligently to translate into deeds the adopted decisions.
