A seminar aimed at raising people’s awareness regarding law was conducted in Assab. Col. Mahmoud Hamd, Police Commander in the Southern Red Sea region, and Mr. Ibrahim Geas, Prosecutor in the region, during the seminar they chaired, underscored the steadfast as well as obligatory nature of law and the accountability of people towards it. Furthermore, they indicated that the supremacy of law can be ensured only though increased public awareness and participation. Mahmoud Hamd, Police Commander in the Southern Red Sea region, and Mr. Ibrahim Geas, Prosecutor in the region, during the seminar they chaired, underscored the steadfast as well as obligatory nature of law and the accountability of people towards it. Furthermore, they indicated that the supremacy of law can be ensured only though increased public awareness and participation.
A call was also made on parents and community elders to play due role in bequeathing the legacies of prevailing socio-cultural values to the future generation. Mr. Salm Ali Salm, political affairs department head of the PFDJ’s branch in the region, indicated that the sense of mutual respect and obedience to law is a characteristic feature of the Eritrean people.
The seminar participants on their part explained that it is helpful in doing away with criminal actions resulting from lack of awareness.
