New potable water supply project in Deki-Tsuna inaugurated

Mr. Rezene Fiseha, director general of infrastructure department in the regional Administration, pointed out that the project, which is expected to serve 2,500 inhabitants in Deki-Tsuna, comprises 3.6 km-long pipeline, a reservoir of 75 cubic meters capacity, 6 potable water distribution sites, 120 solar panels and water well with 2.5 liters per second pump.

Out of the inhabitants, Mr. Kiar Hassen and Rev. Araya Mebrahtu, expressed satisfaction with the finalization of the project and commended the Government’s commitment to ensure potable water supply in the area.

Likewise, Ms. Letebirhan Gebre expressed conviction that they used to walk for 4 hours to fetch water, the cleanliness of which was not guaranteed, and that they have now began benefiting from potable water supply within a distance of short walk.

Mr. Mustafa Nurhusein, Administrator of the Southern region, called on the inhabitants to foster the sense of ownership and practice judicious use of the project. He also indicated that the potential of the project would be a basis for extending potable water supply to the villages of Cha’at, Adi-Belih and Adi-Nahbai in the future.
