Keih Bahri Tannery boosts production both in quality and quantity

The Administration of Keih Bahri Tannery stated that it has boosted production both in quality and quantity, and that its products have started to be sold in local and foreign markets.

Asmara, 30 April 2012 – The Administration of Keih Bahri Tannery stated that it has boosted production both in quality and quantity, and that its products have started to be sold in local and foreign markets.

Mr. Giorgio Abraham, Administrator of the factory, indicated that the management has been engaged in the primary task of introducing timely leather processing technology in line with the purpose to enhance production at all levels. He further indicated that the factory is in a position to satisfy the domestic market for leather products and annually exports 20 containers of tanned leather.

Mr. Tsegai Kahsai, coordinator of production department in the factory, asserted on his part that leather is an important resource which demands prudent handling, and that the factory’s commitment to develop human resource capacity has played significant role in improving production in all facets.

One of the employees, Ms. Fireweini Siyum, said that the workforce has managed to operate modern machinery on account of up-to-date training being given to the workers and the experience they have already acquired. She also called on citizens to practice judicious handling of leather so as to avoid aggregate wastage.

Reports indicate that the factory’s products used to be limited to leather products and plastic sandals, but at present it has started manufacturing a variety of shoes.
