Positive outcome being witnessed as regards malaria eradication in the Southern region

The Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region stated that significant achievement has been registered as regards malaria eradication, and that not a single report of death was not reported in connection with malaria since the year 2006. Mendefera, May 1, 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern region stated that significant achievement has been registered as regards malaria eradication, and that not a single report of death was not reported in connection with malaria since the year 2006.

Mr. Abraha Woldeselasie, head of malaria control department in the branch office, indicated that such an achievement was ensured through the active participation of 865 well-equipped health professionals and community health volunteers, besides the efforts made to promote environmental hygiene by the community, effective use of bed nets and prevention of mosquito reproduction. He also called for increased popular participation in all the endeavors being made for the realization of the ultimate goal.
