Women in the semi-urban center of Asneda, Asmat sub-zone, said that potable water supply in the area has led to life-improving outcome. They further explained that the community used to face various inconveniences resulting from lack of potable water supply in the area, and that the available potable water supply at present has been a stepping stone to improvement in the livelihood of the residents, especially women. Asmat, 2 May 2012 – Women in the semi-urban center of Asneda, Asmat sub-zone, said that potable water supply in the area has led to life-improving outcome. They further explained that the community used to face various inconveniences resulting from lack of potable water supply in the area, and that the available potable water supply at present has been a stepping stone to improvement in the livelihood of the residents, especially women.
Among the residents, Ms. Bekita Idris and Ms. Nitshti Tekle, indicated that they used to walk for hours to fetch water, but now thanks to the Government’s commitment to put an end to the hardship they used to undergo, they are in a position to be beneficiaries of reliable potable water supply in 5 distribution centers.
Likewise, Ms. Fatna Abdalla, expressed conviction that the impact of the facility has resulted in improvement of the community’s health vis-à-vis control of diseases caused by water contamination.
Ms. Khedija Mahmoud, water fee collector in the semi-urban center, called on the residents to make judicious use of the water supply facility so as to ensure consistency of such service.
