Southern region: Popular participation playing important role in extending and renovating transport routes
The Ministry of Transport and Communications’ branch in the Southern region stated that popular participation has played an important role in the extension and renovation process of transport routes in the region. Mendefera, 4 April 2012 – The Ministry of Transport and Communications’ branch in the Southern region stated that popular participation has played an important role in the extension and renovation process of transport routes in the region.
Mr. Mehari Habte, head of the branch office, indicated that ? of the land transport routes in the region constitute dirt roads, and that they could render consistent service thanks to the community-based campaigns undertaken to renovate and extend them.
Mr. Efrem Kifle and Mr. Habtemariam Tsehaye, drivers, lauded the monetary and labor input made by nationals in the region in line with the endeavors to ensure consistent and extended transportation service.
