Popular participation described vital in ensuring traffic safety

The Eritrean Association for Traffic Safety conducted a seminar in Mendefera in continuation of its promotional activities and with the purpose of boosting popular participation in endeavors to ensure traffic safety. Mendefera, 07 May 2012 – The Eritrean Association for Traffic Safety conducted a seminar in Mendefera in continuation of its promotional activities and with the purpose of boosting popular participation in endeavors to ensure traffic safety.

Mr. Girmai Abrehe, Chairman of the Association, indicated that promotional campaign as regards ensuring traffic safety has been launched targeting bus drivers, passengers and students from kindergarten to high school level. He further called on the inhabitants of the region to extend a helping hand towards the realization of the set goal. He also indicated that promotional package, including written and graphic stickers, audio-visual pieces, seminars and art contests has been made available by the Association.

Mr. Tesfamariam Haile, director general of Administration and Finance department in the regional Administration, said that the promotional campaign focuses on ensuring human welfare, besides assuring traffic and material safety.

He also underlined that drivers should be responsible as regards respecting traffic rules and that pedestrians should as well practice proper use of roads.

The Eritrean Association for Traffic Safety, established by volunteers anxious to promote traffic safety in the country, operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.
