Active educational service witnessed in the majority of Gash-Barka’s Administrative areas

The Education Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region said that active educational service has been witnessed in 180 out of the 191 Administrative areas in the region. Barentu, 8 April, 2012 – The Education Ministry’s branch in Gash-Barka region said that active educational service has been witnessed in 180 out of the 191 Administrative areas in the region.

Mr. Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, head of the branch office, underlined that there were only few schools confined in urban areas of the region before 20 years, and that a total of 359 elementary, junior and secondary schools are currently rendering reliable service in line with the Government’s endeavors to ensure even and effective educational facilities in all corners of the country.

The branch office indicated that 25 education stations have been launched with a view to facilitating the progress of those children who attend school late in age, besides the establishment of 155 stations pertinent to adult education. It further indicated that boarding schools were built in Agordat, Gogne and Forto-Sawa.

Mr. Mohammed Ali asserted that additional effort is required to reach the desired level of school attendance taking into account the number of the inhabitants in the region vis-à-vis the achievement already scored.
