Southern region: Statistics and Information System Department exerts endeavors to ensure efficient service
The Statistics and Information System Department in the Southern regional Administration said that it is exerting endeavors to ensure efficient service. Mendefera, 8 April, 2012 – The Statistics and Information System Department in the Southern regional Administration said that it is exerting endeavors to ensure efficient service.
Mr. Yemane Tsegai, head of the department, indicated that the Administration is working on priority basis to set up reliable public information system, and that an updated public record about 997 villages is available in the office as of the year 2009. He also called on the inhabitants of the region to extend a helping hand towards the goal of compiling accurate record of herds in the region.
Mr. Tedros Tekle, director of the regional Administrator’s office, explained that the availability of such an updated data is essential in charting effective socio-economic programs. He further explained that the department comprises GIS, cartography, electronics maintenance and computer training branches, and that a program has been launched to establish wide area computer connection among Mendefera, Debarwa, Dekemhare and Adi-Quala.
Mr. Tekle Gebremeskel, a statistician in the regional Administration, pointed out that there exist quantitative and cartographic data of all socio-economic institutions in the region in a database. He also called on nationals engaged in administration duties in the region to forward updated information on time.
