Asmara, 19 May, 2012 – President Isaias Afwerki today received and held talks with a delegation from the Southern Africa Development Community (SADC) headed by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Zimbabwe, Mr. Simbarashe Simbanenduku.
During the meeting at the State House, both sides held discussions as regards strengthening the African Union (AU) and its scheduled summit conference in Lilongue, Malawi, in July.

He also pointed out that the AU member states need to appoint a competent person who would serve as the President of the African Union’s Commission.
The 10-member SADC delegation comprising three ministers concluded its day-long working visit to Eritrea and left later in the day.
