Medefera, 21 May 2012 – Maj. General Omar Hasen Tewil called on youths in the Southern region to raise awareness as regards keeping intact national and cultural values. He made the call at a seminar he conducted in Mendefera in connection with the 21st anniversary celebrations of Independence Day.
He explained that the historic armed struggle for independence evolved from a deep conviction of the youths that independence is the foundation of people’s dignity, and underlined that the nation’s future by and large depends on the vision of the youth.
Elaborating that the role of Eritrean youths was momentous in ensuring independence and safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty, Maj. General Omar Tewil called on them to remain steadfast in challenging the psychological war on the part of hostile forces targeting them.
The participants of the seminar on their part expressed satisfaction with the extensive information and impression conveyed.
