Asmara, 22 May 2012 – The Eritrean community in Milan, Italy, and the Dutch city of Amsterdam colorfully celebrated the 21st anniversary of Independence Day with patriotic zeal.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zemede Tekle, the Eritrean Ambassador to Italy, underlined that the great event is being celebrated at a time when the achievement of the nation’s objectives has become ever more evident. The community members on their part expressed resolve to back up the national development drive.

Likewise, the nationals residing in Holland celebrated the Day with the spirit of national pride and through activities portraying the Eritrean people’s steadfastness in resisting external conspiracies and registering development accomplishments, reports indicated. Mr. Solomon Mehari, head of Consular Affairs in Holland, said that hostile schemes against the nation’s development goals demonstrate the emptiness of enemy quarters, and that the citizens in the Diaspora would reinforce their resolve to ascertain the utter failure of anti-Eritrea agendas.
