Southern Red Sea region: Independence Day anniversary colorfully celebrated at regional level

The 21st Independence Day anniversary was celebrated colorfully in the Southern Red Sea region. Speaking on the occasion in the port city of Assab, Mr. Ali Mahmoud, the regional Administrator, underlined that the Day marks a momentous occasion in which the Eritrean people ascertained their liberation through bitter armed struggle. He also indicated that the great event is being celebrated at a time when the nation has registered significant economic progress through the integrated endeavors of the Eritrean people and their leadership. Assab, May 25 2012 – The 21st Independence Day anniversary was celebrated colorfully in the Southern Red Sea region. Mr. Salm Ali, chairman of the Holidays Coordinating Committee in the region, said on his part that the impressive development achievements in the country have on the one hand enriched the people’s aspiration for still greater achievement, and became a cause of worry to enemy quarters on the other.

Reports indicated that carnivals, exhibitions by different institutions, military parade, as well as aerobic and cultural shows featured in the celebrations.
