Distribution of schools in the Southern Red Sea region grew by 90%: Report

The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region stated that the distribution of educational facilities has been even at the level of Administration area, and that the number of schools has grown by 90%. Assab, 26 May, 2012 – The Education Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region stated that the distribution of educational facilities has been even at the level of Administration area, and that the number of schools has grown by 90%.

Indicating that previously there were few schools in the four sub-zones of the region, Mr. Nur Ahmed from the branch office, explained that a total of 121 schools are rendering services from Kindergarten to high school level, including adult education. He further indicated that the availability of such educational facilities in the region has been a spring board to the attainment of enhanced female participation in education, which is believed to be 32%, 27% and 27% in the elementary, junior and secondary school levels.

Students displaced by volcanic eruptions in the region have managed to continue studies in line with the Government’s endeavors to rehabilitate the local inhabitants on the basis of community-based style of living, Mr. Nur added. He also stated that Student Week would be conducted in the region.
