Farmers in Aligider finalize preparations for the rainy season

Farmers in Aligider area said that they have finalized preparations to boost production through effective farming in the rainy season. They further indicated that popular undertakings have been taking place twice a week in Aligidir, Ad-Simbra, Labad and Cambo-Aserte since March with a view to preparing farmlands, specially eradicating the Prosopif tree. Tesenei, 31 May 2012 –Farmers in Aligider area said that they have finalized preparations to boost production through effective farming in the rainy season. They further indicated that popular undertakings have been taking place twice a week in Aligidir, Ad-Simbra, Labad and Cambo-Aserte since March with a view to preparing farmlands, specially eradicating the Prosopif tree.

One of the inhabitants of Cambo-Aserte, Mr. Seadin Ibrahim, said that the land in the area has remarkable potential for farming, and that the construction of Aligidir Micro-dam has enhanced farming activities in the locality.

Ms. Genet Tesfalidet and Mr. Ibrahim Shelal on their part indicated that eradication of Prosopif tree was given priority in the integrated popular task.

Explaining that terracing and road renovation activities also featured in the undertaking,Mr. Ferej Mahmoud, Administrator of Aligidir Administrative area, stated that preparation of 4,500 hectares of farmland and renovation of 10 Km-long road was accomplished through the popular undertaking. He further indicated that a total of 3,500 hectares of farmland would soon be distributed to the farmers in the locality.
