Better harvest being obtained in Wadi-Labka thanks to effective water diversion techniques

Farmers in Wadi-Labka, Gadim-Halib Administrative area, said that they are in a position to obtain better harvest through effective implementation of water diversion techniques. Water sheds from the surrounding mountainous areas are being utilized efficiently, the result of which has boosted local produce, the farmers added.

Afabet, 2 June 2012 – Farmers in Wadi-Labka, Gadim-Halib Administrative area, said that they are in a position to obtain better harvest through effective implementation of water diversion techniques. Water sheds from the surrounding mountainous areas are being utilized efficiently, the result of which has boosted local produce, the farmers added.

Indicating that the farmers are continuously being engaged in water diversion undertakings, Mr. Mohammed Omar Husein, Administrator of the locality, explained that more endeavors are required to register similar achievement in Abarara, Qirfla, Agdieba and Mesnae-Sker areas.

One of the farmers, Mr. Mohammed Saleh Mohammed, asserted that the available water sheds could totally be soaked within a total of 1,500 farmland in the area, and that they obtained dual harvests last year.

Similarly, Mr. Fikak Mohammed Ali, said that various development endeavors in the area have resulted in improvement of the community’s livelihood. He further expressed the readiness of the local inhabitants to participate in the mapped out tasks of constructing micro-dams and diversion canals in the Administrative area.

Reports indicate that 6,000 farmers in Gadim-Halib carry out tasks on the basis of association.
