Hagaz, 5 June 2012 – Health personnel in Shaftakh village, Ashera Administrative area, indicated that morbidity resulting from communicable diseases has dropped by 50% in line with the growing practice of environmental hygiene in the area.
Stating that the community’s awareness as regards the practice of hygiene has increased, Mr. Gergis Abraha, Administrator of Ashera Administrative area, lauded the Health Ministry’s commitment to safeguard the wellbeing of the citizens.
Ms. Rozina Eyob, head of the health station in Shaftakh, explained on her part that morbidity as regards communicable diseases could visibly be reduced, especially through pursuing extensive use of latrines by the local inhabitants.
One of the inhabitants, Father Ogbamariam Ekub, expressed satisfaction with the availability of social service facilities in the area and called on the local inhabitants to promote community-based practice of hygiene.
Likewise, Mr. Gebrai Almedai, Mr. Bahlibi Arbed and Ms. Mehret Hagos respectively expressed conviction that the community’s health could be secured on the basis of enhanced community awareness regarding sanitation. They also indicated that the community would work hard to introduce modern latrines.
