Southern Red Sea region: Community sensitization activities towards ensuring environmental hygiene described effective

The Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region indicated that community sensitization activities undertaken there with a view to ensuring environmental hygiene on the basis of community-based approach have registered effective outcome. It made the disclosure at a meeting conducted in Rahaita in the presence of Abdulkadir Dawud, Sultan of Rahaita.

Rahaita, 11 June 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in the Southern Red Sea region indicated that community sensitization activities undertaken there with a view to ensuring environmental hygiene on the basis of community-based approach have registered effective outcome. It made the disclosure at a meeting conducted in Rahaita in the presence of Abdulkadir Dawud, Sultan of Rahaita.

Mr. Assefaw Gebremichael, head of the Ministry’s branch office, called on the inhabitants to apply a reliable practice of environmental sanitation, and thereby eliminate communicable diseases resulting from lack of hygiene.

Also speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ali Mahmoud, Administrator of the region, awarded Administrative areas that accomplished tangible tasks in ensuring environmental hygiene, and asserted that living in a healthy environment is a characteristic feature of a developed community. The regional Administrator also called citizens in the region to mount endeavors towards ensuring environmental hygiene.
