326 million Nakfa disbursed for the support of families of martyrs in 2011: Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare

The Eritrean Government as part of its commitment to support families of martyrs disbursed 326 million Nakfa in 2011, disclosed Mr. Zerai Tekleab director of social welfare in the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare. Asmara, 17 June 2012- The Eritrean Government as part of its commitment to support families of martyrs disbursed 326 million Nakfa in 2011, disclosed Mr. Zerai Tekleab director of social welfare in the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare.

According to him from 2004 to 2012 over 2.5 billion Nakfa has been paid in support of families of martyrs.

Mr. Zerai who said that the respect of the Eritrean people over its martyrs is huge and unique, noted that the support being provided by the Government to the families of martyrs is to be found nowhere else in the world.

He further said that in accordance to the proclamation No. 137, 2003, issued by the Government to support families of martyrs, every family of a martyr is being paid 500 Nakfa per month starting from 2004.
