A number of nationals asserted that the coincidence of Martyrs Day with the 30th year of the Sixth Ethiopian military offensive conveys strong message. Recalling that the Derg regime and its backers made extensive preparations in 1982 to demolish the Eritrean People’s Revolution for Independence, they said that history fully attests to the futile nature of such aggressive enemy attempts against the Eritrean people. Asmara, 19 June 2012 – A number of nationals asserted that the coincidence of Martyrs Day with the 30th year of the Sixth Ethiopian military offensive conveys strong message. Recalling that the Derg regime and its backers made extensive preparations in 1982 to demolish the Eritrean People’s Revolution for Independence, they said that history fully attests to the futile nature of such aggressive enemy attempts against the Eritrean people.

The nationals called on the country’s citizenry in general to renew the pledge to ensure national development, especially the youth to preserve national values. They went on to say that we would attain the cherished national goals thanks to the prevailing popular resolve to safeguard national dignity.

All acts of external conspiracy designed to impede the nation’s progress have ended up in utter failure thanks to the steadfastness of the Eritrean people inside the country and abroad. Future hostile enemy agendas are also but in vain in contrast with our unremitting spirit of resoluteness, the nationals added.
