The inhabitants of Ashera Administrative area, Hagaz sub-zone, carried out soil and water conservation activities. Hagaz, 22 June 2012 – The inhabitants of Ashera Administrative area, Hagaz sub-zone, carried out soil and water conservation activities.

Pointing out that the construction of water diversion canals in a total of 600 hectares is one of the major achievements of the popular undertaking, Mr. Gergis Abraha, Administrator of the locality, indicated that the task which also included renovation of roads was accomplished through the mobilization of 300 manpower on daily basis. He further explained that the local Administration would work towards establishment of wood enclosures, and called on the local inhabitants to demonstrate active participation in the preservation of indigenous trees.

One of the local inhabitants, Mr. Mehretab Jimi’e expressed conviction that the accomplishment of the task would by and large improve their produce. Ms. Mniet Silman and Ms. Kedija Kifle on their part indicated that women demonstrated active participation in the undertaking.

Mr. Ogbaliul Ibrahim, an exemplary farmer who has been renovating the road from Qerot-Nejar to Gilas himself asserted that he would enhance participation in such popular campaigns.
