Martyrs Day was commemorated with patriotic zeal at regional level in the Northern Red Sea region. In the commemorative event conducted in the port city of Massawa, candle light parades featured across the historic highway of Sigalet, during which Mr. Siraj Haji, chairman of the regional National Holidays Coordinating Committee, called on every citizen to keep aloft honoring the trust of martyrs. In the commemorative event conducted in the port city of Massawa, candle light parades featured across the historic highway of Sigalet, during which Mr. Siraj Haji, chairman of the regional National Holidays Coordinating Committee, called on every citizen to keep aloft honoring the trust of martyrs.
Following a popular trek, Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, Maj. General Humed Karikare, Commander of the Naval Force, Mr. Hamd Haj Mohammed-Nur, Secretary of the PFDJ regional branch office, Ms. Mes’uda Mohammed, Chairperson of the NUEW regional branch, and Ms. Fana Tesfamariam, Mayor of Massawa, respectively laid wreath and planted tree seedlings at the Martyrs Cemetery.
A number of cultural shows, through artistic works, depicted the valor of the fallen heroes. A separate program was also conducted in commemoration of those who laid down their lives at Salina, reports added.
