Fruit and vegetable farmers Association members in Mendefera said that they would work hard to boost production both in quality and quantity. In the past year alone, over 60 quintals of vegetables were harvested by the farmers, the Association’s official report disclosed. Mr. Ahferom Gebremichael, chairman of the Association, explained that the memebrs are playing vital role in meeting local demand by supplying their produce at fair prices and directly to users.

Mr. Eyasu Asefaw, head of the Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone, called on the farmers to step up endeavors, and thereby back up the cherished goal of ensuring food security.

The Association of fruits and vegetable Farmers in Mendefera was set up in 2001 and currently has 751 members.
