The Ministry of Health stated that the immunization of below one year children which stood at 10% 20 years ago, has now risen to 95%.
Asmara, 25 June 2012 – The Ministry of Health stated that the immunization of below one year children which stood at 10% 20 years ago, has now risen to 95%.
Mr. Tedros Yihdego, head of national immunization program, indicated that gratifying accomplishments have been registered as regards reducing mortality and disorder causes for children and mothers through wide immunization outreach, including those nationals leading nomadic pattern of living.
Reports indicate that Eritrea won global award in 2009 for impressive immunization management, and that it was mentioned as a model in Africa for polio eradication.
Indicating that popular participation played crucial role in the implementation of the program, Mr. Tedros called on the citizenry to enhance their active participation in the program. He also explained that a second immunization
phase as regards measles would be launched next, the goal of which is expected to ensure full eradication of the disease.
