Technical preparations finalized to introduce extensive irrigation farming in Azayihe village

The sub-zonal Administration of Debarwa indicated that technical preparations have been finalized to begin irrigation farming on 50 hectares in Azayihe village. Debarwa, 27 June 2012 – The sub-zonal Administration of Debarwa indicated that technical preparations have been finalized to begin irrigation farming on 50 hectares in Azayihe village.

Mr. Adem Abdelwasie, an engineer who is coordinating the task, explained that the area was selected for extensive modern agricultural practice because its landform is suitable and the dam there can supply ample water. The main pump and 10 Km-long pipes of various sizes have also been installed, besides the preparations being made to provide advance training to the beneficiaries, he added.

Mr. Simon Araya, Administrator of Azayihe Administrative area, stated that the farming area has already been segmented by professionals into 35 blocks and distributed to 160 beneficiary farmers, and called on the farmers to effectively use the opportunity afforded them.

Among the beneficiaries, Mr. Tesfom Gebremariam, lauded the Government for creating a basis for them to boost agricultural production, and further asserted that they would exert endeavors to work hard for the realization of the project’s goals.
