The inhabitants of Adebzage Administrative area, Debarwa sub-zone, indicated that trees within the Kakibda-Adebzage enclosure are flourishing well. They further explained that the enclosure was established with a view to saving Bidho Dam from being filled with sediments, and that it has already become a habitat for some wild animals. Debarwa, 29 June 2012 – The inhabitants of Adebzage Administrative area, Debarwa sub-zone, indicated that trees within the Kakibda-Adebzage enclosure are flourishing well. They further explained that the enclosure was established with a view to saving Bidho Dam from being filled with sediments, and that it has already become a habitat for some wild animals.
Mr. Solomon Habtezgi, Administrator of Kakibda, pointed out that active popular participation is being demonstrated as regards safeguarding the dam and the enclosure, and that they have extended a total of 110,000 Nakfa for the task.
Mr. Gebresilasie Gebretinsae, one of the guards, asserted that the enclosure is in good state thanks to the local inhabitants’ commendable care, and that indigenous trees are also thriving in the area.
Stating that the enclosure is 200 hectares-wide, Mr. Gebretinsae Woldegiorgis, Administrator of Kakibda village, said that the community’s participation in the task would continue.
Bidho Dam serves the surrounding villages of Adebzage, Kakibda, Temajila, Geza-Lamza, Adi-Baro and Gebre-Kelai, and that it had a good impact on irrigation farming in the area.
