Health institutions in Anseba region rendering commendable services: Report

The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region said that it has managed to render commendable services in line with the endeavors exerted to ensure ample distribution of medical facilities. Keren, 4 July 2012 – The Health Ministry’s branch in Anseba region said that it has managed to render commendable services in line with the endeavors exerted to ensure ample distribution of medical facilities. It made the statement in an assessment meeting.

The branch office indicated that 6 health stations would be upgraded to health centers, besides the infrastructure being built to upgrade the health centers in Geleb and Sel’a to the level of community hospitals. It also stated that child and mother mortality rates have dropped to 3% and less than 1% respectively, while child immunization stands at 89% in remote areas.

The meeting further noted that 69 villages have already attained the desired stage of environmental hygiene practice in line with the program launched recently, and that 114 others are in the process. Malaria is also about to reach the stage of eradication.

Stating that substantial accomplishments have been registered by health institutions, especially as regards prevention of communicable diseases, Dr. Kesetebirhan Solomon, head of the branch office, said that the office would exert further endeavors regarding human resource development, extending medical facilities, supply of medicines and introduction of up-to-date equipments.

There exist 39 health institutions and 458 medical professionals in Anseba region.
