The regional Administration of Gash-Barka awarded sub-zonal Administrations that made exemplary input in Independence Day anniversary celebrations. It also issued certificates of merit to individuals and institutions that demonstrated active participation in the special event.

Tesenei, 5 July 2012 – The regional Administration of Gash-Barka awarded sub-zonal Administrations that made exemplary input in Independence Day anniversary celebrations. It also issued certificates of merit to individuals and institutions that demonstrated active participation in the special event.

Mr. Mohammed Hamd, Administrator of Gash-Barka region, lauded the different activities staged by the award-winning sub-zones and institutions, and called on them to enhance creativity in vibrantly celebrating the Day.

Mr. Michael Amhatsion, a member of the National Holidays Coordinating Committee in the region, said that pictorial exhibitions and carnival shows conducted in connection with the Independence Day anniversary depicted the cultural practice of the inhabitants and their resolve to mount staunch resistance against external conspiracies, besides the socio-economic accomplishments registered in the region.

Accordingly, the Administration of Barentu sub-zone won the exhibition award, while Agordat sub-zonal Administration received award for making outstanding input in carnival shows. The two sub-zonal Administrations and other institutions received their award and certificates of merit from the regional Administrator and Major Gen. Haile Samuel, Commander of the Western Command.
