Community representatives in Barentu sub-zone expressed readiness to back up national development programs, especially endeavors being exerted towards ensuring food security and infrastructural development. They made the pledge in a meeting they conducted with Mr. Mohammed Hamd, Administrator of Gash-Barka region.
Barentu, 6 July 2012 – Community representatives in Barentu sub-zone expressed readiness to back up national development programs, especially endeavors being exerted towards ensuring food security and infrastructural development. They made the pledge in a meeting they conducted with Mr. Mohammed Hamd, Administrator of Gash-Barka region.
Indicating that more community undertakings would be conducted regarding soil and water conservation and afforestation, the regional Administrator commended the readiness of the local inhabitants for the accomplishment of the task.
Mr. Franko Kubaba, Administrator of Barentu sub-zone, explained that the preparation for rain-fed farming is expected to be finalized as ample tractors have been assigned in the locality. He further expressed conviction that the construction of Barentu-Shambuko road, which has already started, is due to play vital role in improving the community’s livelihood.
