The inhabitants of Kerot-Nejar village are engaged in popular campaign with a view to safeguarding their health through environmental hygiene. Hagaz, 6 July 2012 – The inhabitants of Kerot-Nejar village are engaged in popular campaign with a view to safeguarding their health through environmental hygiene. They indicated that the community’s awareness in this regard has grown thanks to the joint venture of the Health Ministry and community health representatives.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Berhane Kifle, Mr. Gilya Kifl and Sheikh Omar Ali, said that every family in the village owns a soak-pit latrine and uses it effectively. Likewise, Ms. Temertsa Gide and Ms Lucia Solomon indicated that the campaign also involves tasks directing towards malaria eradication.
Mr. Berhane Gebrekidan, head of environmental health in Anseba region, called on the inhabitants of the region to practice conducting such popular undertaking and make effective use of latrines.
Reports indicate that there prevails extensive use of latrines in Ashera Administrative area that groups the villages of Shaftakh, Andelai, Kerot-Nejar, Sebrbiju and Sequar.
