The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone indicated that a total of 225,000 tree seedlings would be planted in the locality this summer. Mendefera, 12 July 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Mendefera sub-zone indicated that a total of 225,000 tree seedlings would be planted in the locality this summer. Mr. Woldu Gebregiorgis, forestry and wildlife expert in the sub-zone, pointed out that the seedlings comprise 16 varieties, and that they have already started to be planted in line with the launching of the Student Summer Work
Program and popular undertakings being carried out in this regard. Stating that areas that best suit the seedlings varieties have been studied, he further indicated that the plantation sites are in the areas of Berak, Adi-Gahad, Kudo-Felasi, Adi-Mengoti, Geza-Gobo and Adi-Bari villages, in addition to churches and a school in Mendefera.
Mr. Kifle Tesfalidet and Ms. Kibra Hawariat, workers of the nursery in Mendefera sub-zone, called on the inhabitants to demonstrate active participation in the follow-up of the seedlings in the wake of plantation.
One of the beneficiaries of the nursery, Mr. Ogbazgi Tesfai, stated that tree seedlings he obtained from the nursery have flourished well, and that he would plant more this summer.
