Farming activities being carried out effectively in Shambuko sub-zone

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Shambuko sub-zone stated that farming activities are being carried out effectively in line with the prevailing fair rainfall distribution in the area. It further indicated that current rain-fed farming in the locality is being accomplished on 17,000 hectares.

Shambuko, 13 July 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Shambuko sub-zone stated that farming activities are being carried out effectively in line with the prevailing fair rainfall distribution in the area. It further indicated that current rain-fed farming in the locality is being accomplished on 17,000 hectares.

 

Mr. Shewit Fishale, head of the branch office, explained that 17 government-owned and 14 private tractors have been mobilized in tilling the farmlands.

Pointing out that their land plots could be tilled at the desired time thanks to the availability of ample tractors, Mr. Habtetsion Tesfai, Administrator of Dieda Administrative area, expressed conviction that the inhabitants are working hard to raise production taking advantage of the promising rainy season.

One of the farmers, Mr. Eyob Niguse, and Ms. Bicha Tsegai, from the Administration of Bimbina Administrative area, expressed satisfaction with the commendable accessibility as regards tractors in the locality.
