The Eritrean National Museum indicated that historical sites and relics in the country are of significant global importance. It further called on the citizenry to demonstrate active participation in the identification and preservation of relics.
Asmara, 13 July 2012 – The Eritrean National Museum indicated that historical sites and relics in the country are of significant global importance. It further called on the citizenry to demonstrate active participation in the identification and preservation of relics.
Stating that endeavors are being exerted for the historical sites to be included in the World Cultural Heritage Spots, Mr. Medhanie Gebregziabher, head of documentation section at the National Museum, said that excavation programs have been launched to preserve the relics discovered through the cooperation of citizens. He also pointed out that the Museum in the Northern Red Sea region has made considerable accomplishment regarding the preservation and popularization of relics.
The National Museum explained that representatives have been assigned among religious leaders to follow up and conduct seminars regarding preservation of relics in churches and mosques.
Our prioritized goal is to see the historical site of Kohaito and Asmara’s art deco in the list of world heritage sites, Mr. Medhanie added.
