The 5th National Youth Festival that was conducted from 13 to 15 July concluded yesterday. More than 30,000 youths from inside the country and abroad participated in the Festival.
Sawa, 16 July 2012 – The 5th National Youth Festival that was conducted from 13 to 15 July concluded yesterday. More than 30,000 youths from inside the country and abroad participated in the Festival.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed-Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, underlined that a lot of activities in the event depicted the all-round potential among Eritrean youths and inspired the spirit of nationalism.
Indicating that the role of youths in the history of the Eritrean people is paramount, he said that such an event involves the observation that youths should continue to shoulder national responsibility.
A number of activities such as exhibitions, bazaar, cultural shows, discussions and fashion shows featured in the Festival, besides general knowledge, debating, oratory and sports contests. Moreover, cultural troupes from Rwanda, Uganda, the Republic of Sudan and South Africa along with various Eritrean singers from the Diaspora added color to the event.
Reports indicated that Anseba region, the Central region and the Southern region won awards regarding educational, sports and cultural performances respectively, and that the Central region ranked first for wining multiple awards in various domains. Successful sports teams were also rewarded while different cultural troupes that played vital role in the Festival received certificate of merit.
