Farmers in Haikota sub-zone said that they are carrying out effective rain-fed farming activities since the start of this month. Among the farmers, Mr. Idris Mohammed Mahmoud and Mr. Saleh Mohammed-Nur voiced satisfaction with the availability of adequate tractors in the locality, and lauded the operators’ active participation in effectively tilling the available farm land. Mr. Mohammed Hassen equally expressed satisfaction with the fair cost of tilling, and said that they anticipate obtaining better harvest this year.
Mr. Medhanie Teshome, Agronomy expert in the sub-zone, indicated that the rain-fed farming activities in the locality are being carried out on 14,280 hectares.
