Irrigation farming activities in Tekreriet Administrative area creating considerable job opportunities

The inhabitants of Tekreriet Administrative area, Dige sub-zone, said that irrigation farming activities in the locality have ensured considerable job opportunities, besides their remarkable input to the local market. Fervent agricultural business activities based on growing practice of irrigation farming have significantly improved their livelihood, they added. Dige, 30 July 2012 – The inhabitants of Tekreriet Administrative area, Dige sub-zone, said that irrigation farming activities in the locality have ensured considerable job opportunities, besides their remarkable input to the local market. Fervent agricultural business activities based on growing practice of irrigation farming have significantly improved their livelihood, they added.

Among the local inhabitants, Mr. Osman Saleh and Mr. Mohammed-Seid Idris explained that expanding agricultural activities of this nature are playing vital role in promoting community-based style of living in the area where several members of its inhabitants used to lead nomadic style of living.

Mr. Omar Ahmed, one of the farmers, pointed out that the prevailing awareness as regards irrigation farming was nurtured within a short period, and that it has fostered overall socio-economic activities in the locality.

Mr. Adem Mohammed asserted that they are enjoying ample supply of fruits and vegetables at reasonable prices, in addition to the dependable input of green feed by the farms.
