Shambuko, 2 August 2012 – Health personnel in Shambuko sub-zone indicated that the local inhabitants are engaged in popular undertaking with a view to preventing malaria infection resulting from the rainy season.
Stating that previous endeavors in this regard have already given rise to gratifying outcome, Mr. Haile Abraham, head of the health center in Shambuko semi-urban center, indicated that the current undertaking features eradication of damp areas, impregnation of mosquito nets and spray of mosquito targeting insecticide. Mr. Teklebirhan Teklezgi, head of environmental hygiene in the locality, pointed out that the community’s awareness as regards the disease is growing.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Miliete Gebretinsae and Ms. Abrehet Lemlem voiced conviction that visible decline could be witnessed as regards morbidity from malaria thanks to integrated endeavors by the Ministry of Health and the inhabitants.
