The Administration of Anseba region disclosed that a total of 58 projects are being implemented at government expenditure of 138 million Nakfa. Keren, 3 August 2012 – The Administration of Anseba region disclosed that a total of 58 projects are being implemented at government expenditure of 138 million Nakfa. It issued the report during an assessment meeting conducted recently in Keren city.
According to the report, some of the projects constitute survey works underway in Gelet, Kar’obel, Genfelom, Adi-Tekeliezan, Hagaz and Halib-mentel, erecting mobile telephone towers in the sub-zones of Hamelmalo, Geleb, Halhal, Keren, Sel’a and Kerkebet, construction of dirt road within Anseba-Lemecheli, as well as the opening of regional cadastral office, besides the electrification process in 6 sub-zones.
The regional Administration further stated that 6 micro-dams and water catchments have already been constructed in Balua, Ashera, Habrengeqa and Deroqu respectively at a total expenditure of 18 million, as water wells are being dug in Felik and Amalait, and that a 13,000 hectares-wide enclosure has been designated at regional level.
Indicating that a lot of effort has been exerted as regards reinforcement of construction and development activities, Mr. Gergis Girmai, the regional Administrator, called on Area Administrators to play the necessary role in ensuring prudent use of water resources. He further called for increased endeavors regarding combating deforestation through the extensive innovation of Adhanet energy-conserving stove and effective implementation of community-based soil and water conservation activities.
