The inhabitants of Areda, Mogolo sub-zone, indicated that the new water catchment in the locality has reserved ample water supply for livestock. Pointing out that livestock there used to drink water in outlying areas, they expressed satisfaction with the proximity of the water catchment. Mogolo, 3 August 2012 – The inhabitants of Areda, Mogolo sub-zone, indicated that the new water catchment in the locality has reserved ample water supply for livestock. Pointing out that livestock there used to drink water in outlying areas, they expressed satisfaction with the proximity of the water catchment.
Mr. Saleh Shanai Fikak, Administrator of Areda Administrative area, expressed conviction that the water catchment would foster animal farming activities in the locality. Among the inhabitants, Mr. Idris Kemis pointed out that it would also be a stepping stone to reviving irrigation farming.
Mr. Tesfai Bahri-Negash, irrigation farming development expert in the locality, said that the water catchment possesses comparative advantage in upgrading it to micro-dam, on the basis of which irrigation farming could be conducted on 150 hectares. He also called on the local inhabitants to practice judicious use of the water catchment.
