More accomplishments being registered in the sub-zones of Afabet and Nacfa through SWP

The Agriculture Ministry’s branch offices in the sub-zones of Afabet and Nacfa said that more accomplishments as regards soil and water conservation and renovation of dirt roads are being registered in the localities in line with the SWP. Massawa, 9 August 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch offices in the sub-zones of Afabet and Nacfa said that more accomplishments as regards soil and water conservation and renovation of dirt roads are being registered in the localities in line with the SWP.

Mr. Jabir Mohammed, head of the Ministry’s branch in Nacfa sub-zone, indicated that more than 100 Km-long terraces and water catchment walls have been constructed, in addition to the plantation of over 34,000 tree seedlings and the digging of more holes. He further explained that terraces around the trenches of the historical battleground of Fidel-Pe have been renovated along with the dirt roads between Afabet and Nacfa, as well as Laba and Nacfa.

Meanwhile, SWP participants in Afabet sub-zone have made similar accomplishments, according to Mr. Adem Mohammed, one of the coordinators. Among the students, Osman Mohammed, Hawa Idris and Amira Osman voiced conviction that the program is vital in nurturing the norm of work and exchange of experience, besides the fact that it is a basis for community sensitization regarding the environment.
