The Municipal Administration of Keren city said that it is launching a variety of infrastructural programs at an expenditure of 50 million Nakfa which are due to be implemented within this year. Keren, 11 August 2012 – The Municipal Administration of Keren city said that it is launching a variety of infrastructural programs at an expenditure of 50 million Nakfa which are due to be implemented within this year. Mr. Tekie Keleta, the Mayor of the city, indicated that the programs include the mapping of master plan, renovation of public toilets, distribution of tiesa land plots in 8 suburb villages, construction of municipal administration complex and bridges, as well as the upgrading of Jira Fiori in Geza-banda, besides the upgrading and renovation of the city’s potable water supply and sewage system. The meeting further noted that street names incorporated in the national information system are ready for implementation.
Rev. Zere Bekit, Chairman of Keren City Council, said that the programs being implemented should take into account the fast growth being witnessed in the city. The participants of the meeting on their part put forth views on various issues.
