The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Shambuko sub-zone indicated that more than 22,000 livestock have been vaccinated in the locality. Shambuko, 11 August 2012 – The Agriculture Ministry’s branch in Shambuko sub-zone indicated that more than 22,000 livestock have been vaccinated in the locality.
Mr. Nir’ayo Yihdego and Mr. Teklehaimanot Tewolde, animal farmers in the locality, voiced satisfaction with the vaccination campaign. Mr. Woldemichael Teklit, from the branch office, called on the rest of the livestock owners in the locality to immunize them in a short time.
Meanwhile, a similar campaign was conducted in Molqi sub-zone, according to Dr. Teklezgi Tekie, from the regional branch office of Gash-Barka region. Pointing out that the vaccination campaign which was carried out every summer since 2006 targets internal and external parasites, he explained that its impact has progressively become vivid.
Accordingly, around 60,000 livestock were vaccinated this year in the sub-zone, Dr. Teklezgi added. Among the inhabitants, Mr. Fisehaye Gebresilsie and Mr. Negasi Gebremichael voiced conviction that the impact of vaccinations has become visible in safeguarding the health of their herds.
