Inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone express resolve to preserve trees

The inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone expressed resolve to preserve trees planted in the reserve areas in their locality. Afabet, 12 August 2012- The inhabitants of Afabet sub-zone expressed resolve to preserve trees planted in the reserve areas in their locality.

The inhabitants disclosed that during the last six months substantial amount of trees were illegally cut and called on those engaged in the illegal activities to stop from pursuing such illegal activities.

Mr. Tahir Osman, member of the forestry guards, explained that the forest in the reserve area is in good condition and with proper management the area could be one of the green areas in the country.

Mr. Hagos Gebretensae, head of Ministry of Agriculture branch, on his part called on the inhabitants of the sub-zone to be vigilant regarding preserving trees and closely watch for any illegal cutting.
