Afabet, 16 August 2012 – The sub-zonal Administration of Afabet said that various infrastructure projects have been implemented in 2012 with a view to reinforcing social services in the locality.
Mr. Abdu Mohammed Telkie, Administrator of the sub-zone, said that water catchments in the Administrative areas of Naro-Ans, Naro-Teb’at, Aget, Gilbub, Gadm-Halib and Shabait have been renovated, besides the construction of terraces and water catchment walls in the areas of Gebgeb, Qilamet, Ayitehal, Felket and Mihdaf with a view to promoting the process of ensuring food security in the locality. He further explained that the role of popular undertakings was vital.
The local Administration stated that solar energy-powered potable water supply facility has been put in place in Tirur village, in addition to the renovation of water catchment walls in the agricultural areas of Wadi-Labka and Wadi-Mogae. It further indicated that the vegetable marketplace in Afabet town has been renovated while 20 Km-long dirt road has been constructed linking the villages of Qamchewa and Tirur.
Mr. Abdu commended the active participation of the inhabitants in development programs.
