Agordat sub-zone: Women rehabilitated through handicraft skills demonstrate improvement of livelihood

Women in the Administrative areas of Aderde and Engerne who were rehabilitated through handicraft skills said that they are in a position of improving their livelihood. Agordat, 16 August 2012 – Women in the Administrative areas of Aderde and Engerne who were rehabilitated through handicraft skills said that they are in a position of improving their livelihood.

Among the beneficiaries of the training, Ms. Kedija Osman, Ms. Asha Saleh and Ms. Amna Nisur voiced conviction that they have acquired reliable knowledge and experience as regards handcraft using dry palm leaves.

Ms. Afiet Saleh, head of the NUEW branch in Agordat sub-zone, disclosed that the beneficiaries who received training a year ago constitute 60 needy women, and that their products are being sold in markets of the country’s major cities.

Reports indicate that the NUEW branch office in the sub-zones has been rehabilitating such women on the basis of livestock and micro-credits, besides the endeavors it has been exerting in introducing the energy-saving smokeless stove Adhanet.
