Construction of new road across Anseba-Lemecheli described vital in development of the area

Mr. Gergis Girmai, Administrator of Anseba region, said that the construction of new road across Anseba-Lemecheli is a stepping stone to development of the area. He made the statement during a visit he made on 23 August to observe the progress of the road’s construction which is being accomplished through joint venture by the regional Administration and the inhabitants, including natives of the locality. He made the statement during a visit he made on 23 August to observe the progress of the road’s construction which is being accomplished through joint venture by the regional Administration and the inhabitants, including natives of the locality.

The undertaking is expected to gain momentum after the rainy season is over, as the inhabitants are also engaged in rain-fed farming activities. The process would further target construction of drainage canals and side walls, Mr. Gergis further explained.

Among the inhabitants, Mr. Woldezgi Woldeab and Mr. Dirar Gebreab expressed satisfaction with the way the road has been constructed.

Mr. Tesfai Negasi and Mr. Tesfabirhan Abraham, members of Anseba-Lemecheli’s development committee, indicated that natives of 20 villages in the locality residing in the country and abroad have extended more than 2 million Nakfa in support of the undertaking. They further pointed out that the road would foster irrigation farming in the area.

Reports indicate that beneficiaries of the new road constitute the Administrative areas of Wasdemba, Dembe-Habtetsion, Hadish-Adi and Deki-Andu.
