The Tourism Ministry’s branch in Anseba region called on the inhabitants to extend a helping hand towards preservation of historical sites. It further stated that many of the sites have been reserved in collaboration with the inhabitants and the National Museum.
Keren, 25 August 2012 – The Tourism Ministry’s branch in Anseba region called on the inhabitants to extend a helping hand towards preservation of historical sites. It further stated that many of the sites have been reserved in collaboration with the inhabitants and the National Museum.
Reports indicate that the sites include a number of monasteries, mosques, churches, colonial cemeteries and various art-decos, besides chains of mountains where the Second World War ended in our region.
200 out of 700 tourism institutions in the region exist in Keren city and are rendering commendable service, Mr. Dawit, head of the branch office explained. He further stated that future undertaking would focus on explorations for historical sites in the areas of Asmat and Kerkebet sub-zones.
Among the inhabitants, Mr. Gilai Hidad pointed out that the region also encompasses significant places in the history of the armed struggle for independence, such as the Halhal and Rora-Mensae fronts.
