Dr. Habte Hailemelekot, who gave the training, expressed that the main cause for the prevalence of Fistula is under age marriage, women genital mutilation and giving birth at home.
He further indicated that women could face any sort of health problem during pregnancy and that health problem that could risk their lives and the prevalence of fistula could only be avoided if they give birth under the attendance of professionals.
From the participants, Ms. Alganesh Kidane, head of Ministry of Trade and Industry branch, expressed the importance of the training in ensuring the health of women and called the trainees to practically implement the training they received and the sustainability of the training.
Ms. Saliha Adem, head of NUEW in the region, on her part called on women to avoid harmful cultural practices and engage themselves in income generating activities. She also stated that the training is part of the over all activities being taken in the region to improve the livelihood of women.
